Foo Fighters Release Full Pro-Shot Performance Of 2021 Madison Square Garden Concert

Mid-way through 2021 the modern rock kings, Foo Fighters, reopened one of the world’s most iconic venues, Madison Square Garden. The band kicked off the reopening of MSG on June 20th, 2021 with a sold out performance and became the first artist to perform at MSG since March 10th of 2020. Over 15,000 fans packed MSG for one of the first fully operational live performances in the post-pandemic era, which was also one of first concerts to require attendees to be fully vaccinated.

Grossing over 1.4 million in ticket sales (with approximately 15,371 tickets sold), Foo Fighters’ return to live and in-person concerts was undoubtedly a resounding success. However, from a performance standpoint, Foo Fighters showcased they were the definitive rock band that could bring an uplifting and climactic concert after the crisis of the last year.

Given the scope of this concert and the unprecedented live atmosphere, Foo Fighters took it upon themselves to release pro-shot footage of their entire performance at MSG. The band’s near 3 hour set can be seen on their youtube channel for free, which includes songs from their 2021 album Medicine at Midnight. In addition to the full concert, MSG created a mini-documentary, The Day The Music Came Back, which features footage from Foo Fighters’ legendary gig, as well as interviews of MSG staff, crew and concertgoers.

To say the least, it’s great to see Foo Fighters consistently act with wholesome intentions, especially in times of turmoil. Many bands and artists have taken it upon themselves to create top of the line virtual productions and/or recordings of live in-person concerts, whilst charging fans virtual tickets. While pay-per-view isn’t a foreign concept even in the music industry, in times like these it’s certainly an appreciated gesture to not attach monetary aspects of this kind to this type of content. More importantly, wholesome actions like this are what make Foo Fighters so revered in the modern rock genre, and it’s just another reason why they maintain such a loyal fanbase.
