Foo Fighters could play a one-off show in Geelong next month

The US rockers are “in talks” to play a concert at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.
Whether you’re a Foo Fighters fan or not, there is undeniable longevity to their music – everyone has a Foo Fighters song that takes them back to a time and place.

Loved across the world for their brand of no-nonsense rock and roll, Geelong could be seeing a one-off show from the rockers in a bid to promote Victoria as a live music destination.

While no official announcement has been made, the Herald Sun report that Foo Fighters are reportedly in talks to play the one-off show at Kardinia Park in early March before their tour of Mexico from March 15.

The show is allegedly for Always Live, a new Visit Victoria program that aims to fund and celebrate contemporary live music. According to the website, Always Live is the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and set to make global noise, turning up the volume on our unparalleled home-grown talent, the best acts from around the country and the most sought-after artists from across the globe. The program will feature shows of all scales and styles, created and curated for our special stages, places and beloved venues across Melbourne and throughout the regions.

If it’s anything like their live shows we’ve seen before, you can trust the Foo Fighters won’t hold back in bringing their mammoth set to the stage, reminding us all that it’s the band’s live performance that is the key to their rampart popularity, which spans across several generations of music fans.

Known for hits including ‘Monkey Wrench’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Learn to Fly’ and ‘Best of You’, their energetic stage antics, accompanied by their obvious desire to please every single one of their fans in attendance, is what sets them apart from other rock bands. You can bet that if they do in fact come to town, the 12-time Grammy-winning behemoth will be bringing a career-spanning set with them, blasting through hit after hit from a discography that’s afforded them well over 25 million album sales.
